Jo Crowe-Joines

President/Broker

Jo Crowe-Joines, President/Broker of Appalachian Land Company, would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to you. We thank you for taking the time to visit this Web site, and we appreciate your interest in our company and the many wonderful properties we offer.

Jo Crowe-Joines and her late husband, Steve, founded Appalachian Land Company in 1985. Even then, the focus was to make this a family-oriented business with high moral standards and to serve each and every customer with integrity and honesty. By putting God first in the business and by giving Him the honor, glory and recognition for its success, the company is now blessed to be considered one of the most respected real estate offices in the region, known for its reputation of sincere customer service, diligence and truthfulness.

Jo is a native of Cherokee County, as was Steve. Jo grew up around her father’s store, Laney’s Grocery and Tire, in the Hot House community in the western part of the county.  Jo was the 1980 salutatorian of Hiwassee Dam High School.

Steve and Jo both attended Tri-County Community College in Murphy. Steve pursued his real estate brokerage license with a focus in law and finance. Jo received academic scholarships and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mars Hill College near Asheville, NC with a degree in business administration. After graduating, she returned to Murphy to pursue her real estate career.

Their first child was born in 1988. Also that year, the Crowes founded Wolf Mountain Estates, a prestigious development in western Cherokee County which features spectacular mountain views and a family-like community atmosphere. Steve’s knowledge of excavating and contracting proved extremely valuable in the venture, and now his son, Jacob, works in land development with the company today. Jo’s business administration background helps her as she oversees the office operations at Appalachian Land Company.

Jo has served on numerous local boards, including the Mountain Lakes Board of Realtors and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, of which she was president for two terms. She is very education-oriented, and regularly attends seminars and classes to add to the business, her family and their lives.

Jo’s personal vision for the growth of the area is quickly being realized. As more and more people discover the beauty and peace found in the southern Appalachians and the loving sense of community abundant in Cherokee County, Murphy continues to grow and the progress spreads steadily westward, with new conveniences and homes being built every day.

Today, Jo and her four wonderful children: Jacob, Jared, Joseph and Jesse praise God for His faithfulness and Jo gives all honor and glory for the success of Appalachian Land Company to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
