Wayne and Joy are both retired from the Cherokee County School system. They have left one career of helping young people achieve their greatest potential to a new career of helping all ages achieve their dreams. Buying or selling, Wayne and Joy will be with you every step of the way taking care of all the details.
Wayne grew up in the Brasstown area where he enjoyed activities at John C. Campbell Folk School. He and Joy met at Western Carolina University and were married the summer after graduation. Wayne taught 8th grade science and coached football, golf, baseball, basketball and track during his 31 years with Cherokee County Schools. Joy taught business courses and was Director of Vocational Education for 33 years.
Joy has been a licensed real estate broker since 1981 and Wayne was licensed in 1994 when they joined the Appalachian Land Company team. They started as part-timers until retiring from the school system. Both are licensed in NC, GA and TN. Teaming together, they bring a positive attitude and caring spirit to the workplace, which explains why they have many satisfied clients.
They are very proud of their two children. Kellee is a graduate of the University of Georgia. After graduation she was employed in Los Angles, CA but to her parents’ delight is now employed in Atlanta, GA. Joseph is a graduate of Western Carolina University attending on a football scholarship and he also played on the golf team. He is a teacher at Murphy Middle School and coaches football and golf at Murphy High.
Community and family are very important to the Watsons. They are members of Murphy First United Methodist Church and participate in several volunteer projects. As avid sports fans, they especially enjoy family outings to UGA Football games and the Atlanta Braves games. Their favorite vacation spots are Seagrove Beach, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC. Occasionally, Wayne sneaks off to play golf at Cherokee Hills Golf Course or Brasstown Valley Resort and Joy might be found digging in her flowerbeds.
